April 2024 Update

Twice in a Lifetime Experience

Two special events occurred on Monday, April 8, 2024.

Most everyone remembers that date as the day the Solar Eclipse traveled the country. Our city of Franklin, Indiana was dead center in the path, and we enjoyed some of the clearest weather along the solar shadow route. To that we are very thankful.

But early that morning, something else occurred that put Heritage Baptist College in a new position...the college became debt-free.

Because of the upcoming Solar Eclipse, the bank was short staffed, but what a pleasure it was to hand the final $3,027.86 to the bank assistant. Thank you for the giving of all our Heritage friends.

A few hours later, back at the campus, we were beginning to see cars enter our parking lot.

I wish that I had earlier understood how big this event would become. We only began our planning about a month ago, but we still saw a good turnout. People showed up from 9 different states. We thank all those who played a part in sharing the Gospel that day. Thank you for those who also helped with preparing the grounds, parking cars, taking registration, passing out literature, and preparing food. There were others, including those from Festival Country Indiana who donated the glasses and our friend Keith Davidson from Seedline, who prepared a special event booklet.

Just after 3:00 p.m. we saw the handiwork of God, and it was an amazing experience. At that moment of darkness it seemed that everyone voiced their approval of this incredible wonder.

You can watch the 7 minute video of the lead up into the eclipse on the Heritage Baptist College Facebook site.

God blessed us with two great experiences on Solar Eclipse Day 2024!

Dr. Harry Strachan to Speak at Banquet

On May 2 - May 4, 2023, we will hold our fifteenth Graduation Week for Heritage Baptist College. The Lord blessed with another good year, and we are looking forward to sharing the blessings with you. We are excited to see you again, and to have you participate in the events that will take place this week. The schedule of the 12 speakers from various states can be found in the Spring Edition of the Heritage News or at our website. Please note the several event times:

Every year, one of the special events of Graduation Week is the Alumni/Graduation Banquet. Dr. Harry Strachan, pastor of the thriving Calvary Baptist Church of Ashland, Ohio is scheduled to speak at the Tuesday night, April 30th event (Time 7:00 p.m.). President Dennis and Dr. Strachan have been friends since they were teenagers, when their Dads worked together in training preachers to reach Canada. Dr. Strachan was born in Ontario, Canada, but has pastored in the U.S. for most of his ministry. His wit and enthusiasm bring a delightful combination to this year’s program. Brother Strachan and his church are a blessing.

This year, we will again host the Alumni/Graduation Banquet on the Hopewell Campus, and the food will be catered by Gray Brother’s Cafeteria.

Come and enjoy Dr. Harry Strachan’s message, along with a night of good food, Christian music, and great fellowship. Please call Heritage Baptist College to make a reservation. (317) 738-3791 or (317) 833-0172.

Graduation Week Fish Fry

Following the morning service on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, we will enjoy our Annual Fish Fry. For several years, Brother Harvey Shilling and the men from Waverly Baptist Church have come to Heritage to fry a wonderful meal of fresh fish. Our hats also go off to Brother Harvey, who catches and cleans the crappie fillets. Last year we experimented by adding a few fresh Rainbow Trout to the Fish Fry. It was received so well, we look to add more to the menu (trout season begins in a week, and we still have yet to catch them)

Dr. Tom Wallace to Preach on Wednesday Night

One of the week’s highlights will be the combined meeting of local churches on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 7:00 pm. Dr. Tom Wallace of Murfreesboro, TN will be here, and we will have special singing, and numbers of churches will be in attendance.

Dr. Tom Wallace, author, evangelist, and Vice President of the Sword of the Lord is scheduled to speak that evening. Dr. Wallace has pastored three great churches, where the Lord blessed with many souls saved. Dr. Walace will spiritually feed your heart and soul.

This is our seventeenth year to host this combined service, and we look forward to a special evening filled with great enthusiasm, kindness, and Christian unity among the churches.

Commencement

The final activity of the week is the Commencement Service, on Thursday, May 2nd at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Rick Stone, founding pastor of the Maranatha Baptist Church (now Grace Baptist Church) in Indianapolis will close out the week with the Commencement Address. Pastor Stone has been a faithful Man of God in the Indianapolis area for the past four decades.

Come celebrate with students and faculty the completion of our seventeenth year.

This is our sixteenth year to host this combined service, and we look forward to a special evening filled with great enthusiasm, kindness, and Christian unity among the churches.
